HTP
The FIA's Historic Technical Passport: the vehicle document for international historic competition. It confirms period specification – but expressly not the car's authenticity or history.
The HTP (Historic Technical Passport) is the FIA's vehicle passport for historic motor sport. Every car taking part in international historic competition under Appendix K must hold a valid HTP. It documents the car's technical specification in a given historic period – effectively a snapshot – and serves technical and eligibility officials at events as well as organisers for classification and class structure.
What matters is what the HTP is not: it is not a certificate of authenticity, nor does it verify the history of the car or its constituent parts. The FIA merely certifies that the information gathered by the national sporting authority (ASN) at the date of inspection is sufficient for the car to be eligible. Questions of originality must therefore be answered by other evidence – such as the FIVA ID-Card or matching numbers.
The HTP is applied for through the ASN of the country where the car is registered and involves a physical inspection and evidence of period specification. For pure regularity rallies there is a far simpler document, the HRCP.
