Tulip

The most common roadbook symbol – a schematic junction diagram showing approach and turn direction.

The tulip is the best-known and most frequently used symbol in the roadbook. It shows a turn at a junction, drawn schematically like a stylised flower. The stem indicates the approach direction you come from, the bloom shows the possible exits, and a dot or arrow marks the direction to take. Tulips come in countless variations depending on the junction geometry.
