Itinerary

The route prescribed by the organiser that the team must drive in the correct order – set out in the roadbook.

The itinerary (German Marschroute) is the route prescribed by the organiser that a team must drive in the set order and direction. It is the backbone of every rally: all time, transit and timed sections lie on the itinerary, and only those who follow it exactly avoid avoidable penalty points.

The itinerary is set out in the roadbook – depending on the event via tulip or arrow symbols, map extracts or orientation tasks. It is often complemented by a time schedule with the associated target times at the individual points. Anyone who leaves the itinerary, misses a compulsory passage or approaches from the wrong direction risks penalty points.
