Document check
The pre-start check of the entered vehicle's papers – driving licence, registration document and proof of insurance. Only then is start clearance given. Also called administrative checks.
The document check (German Dokumentenabnahme, also 'Papierabnahme') is the inspection of the paperwork before the start of a classic-car event. It normally covers the driving licence, the vehicle registration document and proof of insurance for the entered vehicle; depending on the supplementary regulations, further documents such as the FIVA ID-Card may be required. Only once the papers are complete and valid is start clearance given and the crew issued with its start documents. The document check concerns the paperwork; checking the vehicle's condition is the job of the technical inspection (scrutineering).
