Clerk of the course

The event direction responsible for the route and the scoring. Together with the organising committee it rules on disputes over classifications and penalties.

The clerk of the course (German Fahrtleitung) is responsible for the route and the scoring at a classic-car event. It runs the sporting side, oversees controls and tests and draws up the classification. In disputes over scoring and penalties it decides together with the organising committee. The driver liaison officer brings the crews' concerns to the clerk of the course. In German the function is called Fahrtleitung and is broadly equivalent to race control.
