Elektronik-Klasse
German name for the scoring class, mainly in pure regularity rallies, that allows all kinds of odometers and clocks in the car – including digital or GPS-based aids. The counterpart to the Sanduhrklasse.
Elektronik-Klasse ('electronics class') is a scoring class found mainly in pure regularity rallies. It permits all kinds of odometers and clocks inside the car – including digital or GPS-based aids such as electronic tripmeters. It is the counterpart to the Sanduhrklasse, in which only mechanical timing and distance-measuring aids are allowed. Splitting the classes lets crews with modern measuring technology and crews with purely mechanical equipment compete in separate classifications, so that technical effort does not distort the level playing field.
