Passage control

Control point that only confirms passage – proof that the team drove the prescribed route. Related to the transit control.

A passage control is a control point at which only passage is confirmed. Unlike at a time control, a precise target time does not matter here; what counts is solely that the team passes the point at all and in the correct direction. With it, the organiser proves that the prescribed route was followed.

In practice the time card is stamped at the passage control or a code is noted; sometimes the controls are secret. Functionally, the passage control corresponds to the transit or stamp control – depending on the organiser and regulations, the terms are largely used synonymously. Missing a passage control is penalised with penalty points.
