Liaison stage

A section in stage rallies that runs on public roads from the start to a special stage or between two stages. Normal traffic rules apply and must be obeyed.

The liaison stage (German Verbindungsetappe) is a term from stage rallies. It runs from the start to a special stage or the next time control, or lies between two stages, linking the scored sections together. Because it uses public roads, obeying the normal traffic rules is mandatory – it is not raced against the clock. It is also called a road or transport section.
