Südsteiermark-Classic

Since 2001, the Südsteiermark Classic has ranked among Austria's most outstanding classic car rallies, blending nostalgia, sporting spirit, conviviality and culinary excellence in a unique way. Start and finish: Gamlitz, in the heart of the southern Styrian vineyards.

Each year, more than 200 teams compete for the limited starting places. Organisers favour models built before 1950, making the event Austria's number one for pre-war classics. Target times and average speeds are calibrated to each car's vintage.

Across three days, participants tackle the Rechberg pass, climb to the Teichalm alpine plateau, cross the Volcano Land and finally weave through spectacular vineyards. The highlight is the Welsch-Grand-Prix in Gamlitz, with GPS-based regularity tests and special stages on closed roads.
